Through….

This week’s Five Minute Friday prompt is: through

Setting my timer for 5 minutes…. aaaaannnd go!

We go through a lot as human beings.

Emotions, changes, wins and losses. Through the years, we all experience our own spectrum of each of them. Through the birth of babies or the weddings of friends, we experience joy. Through the loss of a parent or the end of a friendship, we experience grief. Promotions at work bring accolades from family and friends, while the crumbling of a marriage prompts consolation from those same family and friends.

But through it all, we continue on, trudging through the drudgery of life, hoping that the next corner we round will bring good things and not bad. But we can’t predict what’s on the other side of the wall. We have to take each turn as it comes, walking through life hoping for the best and bracing ourselves for the worst. Because some who have seen the worst of what life has to offer, have lost the luxury of hope.

STOP

Ugh…. This is definitely not a great piece, but the purpose of the timed free writing is to improve my writing skills, so it’s important to be transparent and share the bad pieces along with the good. I think I started out with a good premise, but it went off the rails as I went along. So, yeah, this piece stinks.

  1. I don’ t think this piece stinks. I think it was truthful and factual about going through a lot in life. How normal it is that we all go through a roller coaster of happiness or grief. How some have lost hope (and those of us who have found it again hope to help them find hope again). Thanks for sharing your post.

  2. There is so much we all go through. I am grateful God is with us through it all. This post did not stink as you were transparent in sharing. May it all turn around soon!

  3. Your random thoughts help me remember things I wouldn’t otherwise remember (like God getting me through the births of my children!). Thank you for that. Thank you also for putting up something you were unsure of. We all need to do that once in a while! FMF#6

  4. Beautifully written… I enjoy your 5 minute posts. You are so much more talented and amazing than you give yourself credit for. I love you!!

  5. 5 mins really is not long to write much at all – we start with an idea of where we want a piece to go, but it often doesn’t get there. But yeah, we go through a lot in life – in all its abundance.
